Gems & Jewels.

Hello everyone!  As you can probably already tell, this is not a usual update one might be used to seeing here on my blog.  I've decided to take a little hiatus from my normal outfit posts because this entire month has been kind of crazy and I've barely had a moment to sit down and update the blog, let alone do an entire photo shoot!  It is my birthday month, along with tax month (ew, ick!) and I've kind of been nonstop on the go since the beginning of April, not to mention I was out of town last weekend and will be out of town this weekend as well.  Busy busy little bee! Not to fret, however!  For those who genuinely look forward to my typical updates, I will be back to regularly scheduled programming next week, along with some new and exciting things I can't wait to share. ;)

In the meantime, I decided to do a random collection of some of my favorite items that I own.  If you follow me on Instagram, you will recognize all of these photos, so I am sorry if you were hoping for something different haha.  For those who don't follow me or do not have an Instagram, this post should be relatively refreshing and a little bit fun.  :)  Some of the items below are clothing, shoes, and accessories, but others are simply treasures here and there that bring me joy.  I apologize if some of the photos are a little more grainy and less clear than others.  The pictures were either taken with my phone camera or "normal" camera so it's kind of a grab bag as far as the quality of images. Anyway, this introduction is long enough.  Time to get to the good stuff!

Not a snowflake.

Hello beautiful readers.  This is not going to be a typical post of mine, so I apologize if you came here in hopes of seeing what new wild and crazy outfit I've come up with. ;)  I'm shifting to a serious and more reflective gear tonight with my intention being to help answer any questions you have about me as well as clear up any assumptions you may have as to why I decided to start a style blog.  Here goes nothing (or something?)..

I was perusing some style blogs earlier this evening and came across one that particularly caught my eye: Closet Vomit.  One post I read in particular consisted of a very sincere explanation/description about this blogger and why she has a fashion blog.  I found it to be incredibly honest, compelling, and more importantly, smart.  If you would like to read her words yourself, visit http://www.closetvomit.com/. The post title is, "Five things I can't provide you as a blogger".  Everything she wrote I wish I had written myself.  It is beautifully said, nail on the head kinda stuff.  And so it goes, she inspired me to write a little post in list form, explaining exactly why it is that I do what I do.

Red Velvet.

Hello everyone.  Top o' the year to you.  ;)

Apologies for the somewhat peculiar lighting as well as my almost no smile and squinty face in most of these images.  The weather was being extra temperamental the day we took these photos, and the devilish little sun could not seem to decide if she wanted to hide or come out and play haha.

Anyway, I have been aching to feature this skater dress on my blog ever since I purchased it in early December, but the timing just wasn't quite right.  Though the dress would have been perfect for a holiday party, I didn't really attend any last year, and on New Year's Eve I stayed at home.  At any rate, I am a sucker for dresses, and when I saw this beaut hanging on display at a discount shop (you know me), I had to swoop it up.  For this post I decided to pair it with some sparkly tights (although it's hard to make out the sparkles on camera), ruffly socks, and black creepers.  Lastly, my faux leather moto jacket had to make a cameo towards the end of the shoot :P.  Honestly I will wear this dress no matter what time of year, because although its rich red hue and velvet texture are easily appropriate for holiday seasons, the style and cut and rock 'n roll everything about it is absolutely appropriate for my wardrobe at all times.  Period.

I hope everyone has a beautiful week as well as a beautiful and thriving New Year.  Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and read my little blog.. it really means the world!

Love to you all. =^.^=
