Buried Treasure.

Hello everyone!  Just a quick post for today.  I made a little run to Goodwill and found two tops that I thought would make a nice addition to my wardrobe.  The first one is a simple black and white striped fitted cotton tee.  I had been looking for a 90's style fitted tee to pair with my high waist shorts, and while this isn't exactly what I was looking for (believe me, I scoured Goodwill today), I thought it still did the trick.  Plus you can't go wrong with black and white.. it goes with everything! Below you can see the outfit I styled around the top.  It's a pretty classic look, but so comfortable and easy.

The second shirt I found is quite the gem.  I was actually in line to pay when I noticed a huge rack of black tee-shirts in the men's section.  Naturally, my love for over-sized black tees led me out of my place in line and quickly over to the rack where I started scouring all over again.  What I found in the midst of the sea of black is truly amazing.  When I got home and tried it on, it fit like a charm, and I immediately started dreaming up outfit ideas, one of which you can see below (you can never go wrong with black velvet leggings and creepers).

That's all for now!  Just wanted to let y'all take a gander at my little Goodwill purchases for the day, and hopefully inspire some of you to shop at secondhand stores (if you don't already).  I will plan on posting more of my thrift finds as they happen, since thrifting is what I'm all about!  Sorry I don't have any pictures of me wearing the outfits in this post, but you can expect a full on outfit post by Wednesday or Thursday of next week.  :)  Thank you so much for reading!

Love to you all.  =^.^=

Lady Stardust.

Hello everyone!  I received a couple of goodies in the mail this week, and am super excited to finally share them on my blog.

The first is a beautiful floral kimono I found on ebay, brand new, unworn and made here in the states.  I had been searching for a kimono to add to my wardrobe for awhile now, but nothing seemed to quite work for me, as everything I came across was either super trendy with fringe accents, or the color scheme didn't work well with the clothes I already own.  One evening I was casually perusing ebay (like I do), and came across the kimono featured above.  It is absolutely perfect because it goes with so many things that I have, being that the base color is black.  When I tried it on, I knew I made the perfect purchase.  It is probably one of the most comfortable pieces I own to date.  It is also super duper flattering, considering the flowy, somewhat over-sized look it gives off.  Throw it over skinny jeans and a crop top, or high waist shorts and a tank, and you've got a killer look with killer comfort.  I've never felt so sophisticated and so comfortable all at the same time.  Of course I had to pair it with my usual go-to high waist shorts and Dr. Martens, but that's my style, yo.  I lovingly call it the Susannicorn Uniform.  :P

The second item I received in the mail (that I'm probably more excited about), is the abalone shell sun choker featured in the last photo of this post (I'm wearing it in the outfit above but it is kinda difficult to see with everything else going on in the photos).  I got this from an adorable little etsy shop and when I saw it, I knew it was mine.  It is absolutely stunning and I am completely in love.  I'm wearing it as I type this, and I'll probably wear it tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that... :)

Whoa, this is proving to run a little long, so I'll wrap things up for now.  As you can see we did another "location" post where my husband and I actually went out and chose a setting that seemed appropriate/fun to shoot some photos.  I will be trying to do these a bit more often, as I think they add a little variety to the usual bedroom backdrop I am accustomed to using in most of my posts.

Thanks for reading, beautiful creatures!  Your support and encouragement has been amazing, and gives me the drive to continue creating, expressing myself, and doing what I love.

Love to you all.  =^.^=

I've seen the future and I've left it behind.

I am well aware that it is Summer, but living in the Bay Area this doesn't really mean much.  Right now it feels like October, or February, or any other non-summer month (at least where California is concerned).  So if you are curious as to why I am wearing a black dress and knee socks for today's post, the answer is simple: because I can. :P

Moving forward, I am super excited about this little black dress!  I scored it on a whim last weekend while I was shopping for cheap jeans for work.  While I try to stay away from malls and brand name clothing stores as much as possible, Forever 21 has some pretty inexpensive stuff when you're on a budget and needing something quick.  I went in looking for a pair of black skinny jeans (which I found) but while I was there I stumbled across this dress, in my size, and on sale.  Being that my place of work has a dress code of all black, I snatched the little number up as quickly as possible.  I do not regret my decision as it is such an incredibly versatile piece!  I wore it to work on Friday and then went out to dinner and drinks with my husband, and did not feel at all like I was hanging out in "work clothes".  That night I paired it with opaque black stockings and my Dr. Martens, but for this post I thought I'd try pairing it with my red velvet creepers and black knee socks.  Honestly you can wear almost anything with this dress, even a pair of classic black and white high top converse would look awesome.

We all need a little black dress (or two or three or four) in our wardrobe (I have another adorable black dress that I scored online from Romwe not too long ago that I might feature in another post in the future). What I love about little black dresses is that they tend to be incredibly flattering on anyone, you can wear them any time of year, and they go with pretty much everything.  And while I don't normally follow the social norms of "fashion", I truly believe that having at least one little black dress in your wardrobe is essential.  Gone are the days when you only wear black to a funeral (what a downer).  Black is queen!  So let's get dressed up and rule the world.. forever.  :)

Thanks for reading! Love to you all. =^.^=

Shoplifters of the world, unite and take over.

I stole the shirt I'm wearing in this post from my work's lost and found.  Pictures lie, it needs a bit of reworking, as in the real world it looks like a pillowcase on me (it's a men's XL). But I couldn't help but fall in love with the worn in vintage feel of it as well as the screen print (even if a sweaty old big guy wore it before me).  Everything pictured above are pieces I paired around the shirt.  The purple/lavender lace cropped camisole in the second to last photo is what I wore underneath it, as it already came equipped with cut off sleeves in like, gigantic size.  I plan on trimming and sewing it indefinitely, but for now I simply wanted to share with y'all that sometimes, "lost and found" is also known as "buried treasure" (and if you plan on stealing/lovingly taking from any lost and found, make sure that your coveted item has been sitting in vain for quite sometime, you know, because, Robin Hood).

Love to you all. =^.^=
