Afternoons At Home.

Hey guys!  Bit of a different post this week.  I actually hadn't planned on posting at all, as this past weekend was my birthday and I took a breather from work to relax and recuperate. However yesterday I had some time by myself at home, cleaning the apartment and hanging out with my kitties.  At one point I noticed that the afternoon light looked so lovely in my bedroom that I thought, why not snap some pics and do a mini outfit post/room tour?  It's always fun to switch up the normal posting routine on my blog, and here I was presented with the perfect opportunity.  I'm actually quite pleased with the photos that I captured, and I hope you find a little bit of enjoyment out of them too. :)

As many of you know, my husband and I live in one of the most sought after neighborhoods in the Bay Area, where rent isn't cheap and space is minimal.  Our tiny one bedroom has proven to be a challenge in decorating and organizing, but after 6 years of living here, I think we have it (mostly) figured out haha.  There is actually a lot more space between the bed and the wardrobe than the picture lets on.  The bed and nightstand were given to us by my parents, and the wardrobe was an Ikea purchase we made to store some of our clothes and shoes (as the closet behind me, concealed by homemade curtains, is the size of a shoebox).
Ahhh, The Clash, my husband's favorite band of all time.  This poster was given to us by an old friend, and I immediately had to get it framed to put over our bed.

Details.  I am a tea drinker, and my tea of choice is usually Earl Grey with a little bit of milk.  I tend to enjoy spending quiet moments in bed sipping a cup before I have to get on with my day.

A closer look at the little trinkets that manage to collect themselves here.  I should have organized my jewelry stand a little better before snapping the photos, but oh well.. this gives you a more realistic look at how haphazardly I tend to organize all of my little what nots.  :)

Just casually sitting around... hahaha.  Though the space is compact, I sometimes like to put on my makeup right in this very spot because the natural light is so perfect.

Look what we have here.. =^.^=
(If you take peek you can see I have a little makeshift table in our tiny closet where my cycling bag lives when I'm not using it.)

Thought I'd snap a pic of my trusty old Chuck Taylors.  Honestly I wear them more than you guys realize.  My everyday outfits are much more relaxed and laid back than my blog tends to let on.. and I'm slowly trying to shift my posting to a more realistic depiction of who I am and what I'm all about.  :)

This little shelf lives in the opposite corner of the bedroom.  I put it up myself (power tools and all.. I am woman! haha) because I wanted a home for my night light.  Yes, yes, most of you already know that I still sleep with a night light.. even with a husband around.. a soft glow of light dimly illuminating the room while I sleep will forever be a comfort to me.

Oh, how I adore a perfect afternoon glow.

My cat, Joan Jett (though we call her Joan for short), loves staring out the window at the birds above and the hustle and bustle on the street below.  She is an angel, and my best friend.
(Human companionship is overrated.)

And I will end my post right here.  I hope you guys enjoyed the photos and reading my thoughts.  This will be my very last room post before, *drum roll please*, my husband and I move to Portland, Oregon in June.  Yes, it is time to make our journey elsewhere.   We have spent our entire lives here and now we feel a pulling towards something new and adventurous, and I hope you all stick around for the exciting ride ahead.  So many new opportunities for blog posts!  ;)

I hope everyone has a lovely week.  So much love to you all. =^.^=

    1. Haha awww thank you Angel! The bed spread is actually a quilt that my husband's grandmother made some years ago and it was given to us after she passed. The colors could not be more perfect. Thank you so much for your encouragement! Moving is so scary but I am excited and welcome the challenge with open arms. Portland is rad and I think it's finally ready for us. Can't wait for all the blog posting/photo opportunities. :) Hope you have a good week darlin!
